Hikvision CCTV System – Custom ONVIF Camera Onboarding and Configurations

Hikvision’s CCTV system is popular in business security camera environments. After being presented with an environment with multiple camera types, manufacturers and models, the situation regarding options and capabilities presented itself. In order to save the business money in camera expenses for 128 cameras that were previously installed, these new Hikvision NVRs needed to be able to use the current cameras. However, given the different models and manufacturers of cameras, options would be limited to uniformly apply the cameras to the system. That’s where the Hikvision SDK programming would assist in accessing available functions that weren’t supported in Hikvision software, to complete the project.

TunzRadio.com Internet Radio Company Venture

Going back to the year 2000, FM stations were still the “go to” for radio entertainment in your local city. The TunzRadio.com project was launched to measure a successful internet radio media start up, market opt-in and media options for a larger, global audience. Even today, it continues to provide a global audience with electronic music options using always improving IT infrastructure and programming.

Enterprise Infrastructure Cleanup Projects (120 Locations Throughout the USA)

Following the contract by a nationwide healthcare agency, attention was requested in network rooms (MDF and IDF rooms) at all practice and administrative offices.

The following steps were performed to resolve the following concerns:

– Circuit Standards (Combination of Fiber/Coax and Fiber/LTE Wireless)
– Cable Management and Standardization
– Equipment Standardization (Routing, Firewall, Network Switches, Wireless Access Points, Battery Backup Units, Power Distribution Units, Backup Disaster Recovery Hardware and Software, SD-WAN Enabled).

Marina Managed Wireless Network Environment

A project presented itself when vacationing in West Palm Beach, Florida. A marina was having a difficult time with providing wired and wireless networking to docking vessels. I was consulted to check the infrastructure of this location and report results on where faults may exist.

Complaints ranged from internet outages, loss of wireless signal during different times of the day, system outages (life/safety/security), and a long delay in resolving issues when these issues occurred.

After reviewing the facility, a report was generated that included the following (a few key items):

– Lack of internet service provider bandwidth to provide internet service to vessels docked during the season.
– Incorrect installation of wireless antennas for coverage. Repeater bridge antennas were acting as access points while also bridging communications between access points, overload of resources on these nodes.
– Non-existent MDF, but instead using ISP equipment (modems) to handle network routing. This solution didn’t provide for load balancing, bandwidth allocations for clients, no managed traffic shaping policies, lack of firewall and security for clients.
– Incorrect switching hardware between ISP equipment, local LAN controllers for antenna hardware.
– No separation of networks through use of VLANs, to separate client internet access vs. company systems (fire/life/safety).
– Exposed wiring and pedestal port access for any device to connect and access the network (including the hardware running the facility’s infrastructure).
– Facility couldn’t account for usage or manage client access based on lack of control plane and management software.
